How to protect your skin
UV can come directly from the sun, or indirectly through scattering and reflection by the atmosphere, clouds, the ground, water and reflective materials such as rooves. Other factors may influence UV levels in your area, continue reading to find out more.
Even in the shade you can still be exposed to UV, which is why we recommend you use more than one form of sun protection.
There are five ways that we can protect ourselves from skin cancer:
on clothes that cover as much skin as possible. If you work outdoors, choose long sleeved shirts and long pants
on SPF 30 or higher, broad spectrum sunscreen. Reapply every two hours and use enough of it!
on a shady hat that covers the head, face, neck and ears
on close fitting wraparound sunglasses
Remember: Always use more than one form of protection.
