If you need to travel from regional and remote areas for cancer treatment, we can help find accommodation for you and your family or carer.
We’ve partnered with AccorHotels to offer discounted rates of up to 30% for hotels close to major treatment centres in NSW. We can also help you find rooms at a community-based accommodation centre in NSW.
If you’re eligible, your accommodation costs are subsidised by the NSW Government’s Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS).
Accommodation services are available through a referral from a healthcare professional.

The accommodation was marvellous. The people that gave their time there for nothing were incredible. Everything was there at the unit, it was like a five-star motel. Chris, cancer breast survivor

Cancer patients
Cancer patients eligible for the 30% discount for AccorHotels must be self-care patients who do not require on-site medical assistance. Patients who need medical assistance will be required to stay as a hospital in-patient or other care-assisted accommodation.
Carers
If you qualify for IPTAAS as a carer accompanying a cancer patient, you will be able to stay at most not-for-profit accommodation facilities available under our accommodation services.
In areas that do not have relevant not-for-profit accommodation facilities, family and carers of cancer patients are eligible for the discounted rate at AccorHotels.
Yes, if you are travelling to NSW from another state for cancer treatment, you can use our accommodation services. However, you will not be eligible for IPTAAS.

The AccorHotels accommodation footprint across Sydney ensures that cancer patients’ distance to travel to their nearest treatment centre in Sydney will be minimal.
We have consulted with AccorHotels on best practices for dealing with housekeeping and managing dangerous waste associated with cancer treatment when a cancer patient stays on site. All staff are briefed on these requirements.
Our nutrition team has also provided guidelines for AccorHotels for meals and snacks for people who are going through cancer treatment.
If a patient or carer is eligible for IPTAAS, they will be reimbursed for their AccorHotels room, in line with the commercial rates outlined as part of the government IPTAAS scheme. Reimbursement and rates for non-Accor accommodation vary. You can claim IPTAAS after your treatment.
