Research governance
Cancer Council NSW is governed by a Board of Directors. All research funding is awarded by the Cancer Council NSW’s Board. Find out more about Governance of Cancer Council NSW.
Oversight and strategic guidance for Cancer Council NSW’s research funding program is provided by the Cancer Research Committee established as a committee of the Cancer Council Board.
The Cancer Research Committee has responsibility to ensure that procedures for allocating research funding and monitoring research progress and outputs are rigorous, transparent and systematic and conform to the highest standards of accountability and strict governance.
Cancer Research Committee Membership
- Researchers with a wide range of expertise, including clinical research
- Members of the cancer community
- Cancer Council NSW, Chief Executive Officer
- A representative of the Board.
Committee members are appointed by the Board for 3 years. They may be appointed for two consecutive terms.
Consumer Review Panel
Cancer Council NSW is committed to involving members of the community in its funding decisions. The Consumer Review Panel is Chaired by a member of the Board.
