Cancer Council NSW supports the best ideas and the best people in cancer research. Thanks to your support, we are able to fund more than 50 projects at any one time. In 2019, we awarded almost $9 million in new funding to 13 ground breaking cancer research projects paving the way for new ways to treat the disease. Read about these projects below.

Improving pancreatic cancer survival

In Australia, only around 10% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive for five years or more – and this rate has barely improved in the past few decades.

Professor John Rasko is trying to change this by researching a new treatment called CAR T-cell immunotherapy.
