Azam Majidi, PhD, is a cancer epidemiologist at the Daffodil Centre. She completed her PhD in Epidemiology at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane, Australia, and subsequently undertook postdoctoral training at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France. Her research integrates large-scale population cohorts, linked administrative health data, and biobank resources to investigate cancer risk and survival.
Azam’s work lies at the intersection of cancer epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, and molecular epidemiology. She focuses on endocrine and metabolic determinants of cancer outcomes, including thyroid function, obesity-related pathways, vitamin D, tumour biomarkers, and commonly used medications. She has a strong interest in causal inference and applies advanced survival analysis and target trial emulation approaches to real-world data. Her research aims to generate rigorous, policy-relevant evidence to improve cancer prevention and prognosis, particularly in ovarian cancer.
