The ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic has continued to be challenging for us all. For cancer patients and their families, the constantly evolving situation has added more uncertainty and stress at a time that is already incredibly difficult.
Despite these challenges, we’re continuing to navigate through COVID-19 together. We’ve embraced new ways of working to ensure we can continue delivering programs, conducting research, and running campaigns.
Most importantly, thanks to you – our amazing supporters – we’ve been able to provide support to thousands of families across the state impacted by cancer, when they needed it most.
That’s why we want to say thank you. To all our volunteers, fundraisers, donors, partners and those who have supported us in any and every way – because of you, we’ve been able to keep our vital support services running throughout the pandemic and continued to invest in world-class cancer research.
As recent months have shown, we don’t know what is around the corner. What we do know, is that we can continue to rely on you, our wonderful supporters, to keep being there for people impacted by cancer in NSW.

Our new normal: Fundraising during COVID-19
This year has been another challenging year for all of us, but we have navigated it together. Thanks to your ongoing support, we’ve continued supporting people affected by cancer throughout 2020/21, despite our fundraising efforts being heavily impacted by the global pandemic.
Our much-loved flagship campaign, Daffodil Day, went virtual for the first time in its’ 34-year history. This meant our incredible volunteers were unable to turn our streets yellow by selling fresh daffodils and pins. Despite this, your unfaltering support meant that Daffodil Day still raised more than $670,000 to support people affected by cancer.
After cancelling last year due to the pandemic, we were delighted to once again hold POSH 2021, our fundraising gala ball, in May. We did things a little differently this year, with a satellite event taking place in the Southern Highlands on the same night as our flagship Sydney event. Thanks to our wonderful POSH Committee, our corporate partners, sponsors and guests we raised an incredible $1,064,000. This was a remarkable achievement that saw us reach the proud milestone of POSH raising $20million for cancer research since the first ever ball in 2000.
We have also received some extraordinary gifts left to us as legacies. One such gift was from Raymond Hutchinson, whose story you can read below. We are so grateful to people like Raymond who take the time to consider leaving us a gift in their will, helping to achieve a future less impacted by cancer and saving lives.
Despite the amazing support of our community, there are yet more challenges to overcome to ensure we can continue providing support to people impacted by cancer. Ongoing lockdowns in NSW have seen us forced to cancel or postpone even more fundraising events this year – events which are vital in helping us recover from the impact of the pandemic.
We need your support more than ever to continue our vital research and services to the people who need it most, now and into the future.
Raymond’s legacy
