5 tips for eating healthier over the festive season
By Cancer Council NSW
When the festive season arrives it can be easy to over-indulge. To help we’ve put together our top five tips for making heathier choices while socialising over the holiday season.
Before heading off to a get-together have a healthy snack. You’re more likely to eat the high fat snacks if you arrive hungry.
Limit junk food party snacks like cakes, lollies and chips. If you’re hosting, try out our Healthy Lunch Box custard pudding or fruit salad parfaits instead.
Choose lean meats, skinless poultry and trim any visible fat before cooking. After some meat-free options? Try our Healthy Lunch Box cauliflower nuggets, or caprese quinoa salad.
If you’re hosting, offer some lower fat alternatives. One of our favourites is vegie sticks with low fat dip. Check out our delicious hummus or carrot and ricotta dip recipes for inspiration!
Create a healthy grazing table using a wide range of delicious summer fruits! Stone fruit, mangoes, cherries and grapes will all be in season.
