Improve your long game FAQs
Improve your long game is a free sun protection program targeting male golfers aged 40+ in NSW golf clubs.
The program aims to protect golfers from overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation by improving access to sunscreen on the course via metal sunscreen stands at the 1st and 10th tee, supported by posters and other sun protection information displayed in the clubhouse and Pro Shop.
In NSW, men over the age of 40 are 1.5 times more likely to be diagnosed and 2.5 times more likely to die of melanoma than women of a similar age.
Evidence has also shown that men generally have poorer sun protection behaviours than women, in particular, while out playing golf.
No, the program is free to all golf clubs in NSW.
On sign up, all clubs receive two sets of sunscreen metal stands, up to 6 x1L Work SPF 50 dry touch sunscreen and access to a range of digital resources and printed materials at no cost.
There are a range of resources available to support you with delivering the program, including:
- 2 metal sunscreen stands for the 1st and 10th tee
- 1L pump packs of Work SPF 50 dry touch sunscreen for the metal sunscreen stands
- A selection of sun protection posters and brochures to display in the clubhouse and Pro Shop.
- Promotional videos and digital resources to show within the clubhouse and pro shop, and/or share via social media
You can check out available digital and printed materials on our website.
To order sunscreen or printed materials (e.g. posters, flyers) for your club, visit our online resource order form.
Resources are typically delivered to clubs within 10 business days. However, during high-volume periods, delivery may take up to 4 weeks.
You will receive a notification via email when your order is on its way to your club.
If your club requested stands and/or supporting printed materials (i.e. posters, flyers), these will be sent to your club direct from our supplier. If you don’t receive your order within the specified timeframe, please us via improveyourlonggame@nswcc.org.au or (02) 9334 1761 and we’ll follow it up.
Improve your long game is a year-round program, so once your program materials are received you can start displaying them immediately.
In most parts of NSW, UV reaches levels that can damage unprotected skin most months of the year, which is why it’s important to check the UV daily and protect our skin whenever the UV level is 3 and above.
We apologise that your order didn’t arrive as it should have.
Please send us an email with details of what is damaged or missing and we will arrange to have them fixed or replaced as soon as possible.
Participating clubs can order up to 6 x 1L Work SPF 50 sunscreen when registering for the year via the online registration form.
If you find club’s supply running low, you can order a free top up via our online resource order form.
If your club has 27 holes, please get in touch and we will do our best to support your club.
If your club has multiple starting points, we recommend placing the ‘Apply’ stand near the club house or pro shop where players prepare for their game or as they go on to the green.
For any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the team on improveyourlonggame@nswcc.org.au or (02) 9334 1761 and we’ll be happy to help.
