Jane Hobson led the Research Grants Management Team at Cancer Council NSW.
In this role, she facilitates $10 million funding a year for cancer research. In order to decide which research the organisation funds, Jane and her team ensure both the scientific merit of a project and its potential impact on the community. A panel of cancer survivors and carers help make sure that Cancer Council NSW funds research that is of the most benefit to the cancer community while meeting the highest scientific standards.
Seeing how a piece of work has produced real-world outcomes for people affected by cancer is one of the things Jane enjoys most about her job.
