Translational research aims to bring results obtained in a laboratory or theoretical setting (basic research) into practice, e.g. into the clinic.
Reverse translation is when scientists notice something important in cancer patients, like why a treatment works well for some people but not others, and then go back to the lab to study it more closely. They might use cells, animal models, or other tools to figure out what’s happening at a deeper level, which can help improve future interventions.
Research translation: Moving discoveries from research into real-world practice, policy or healthcare so they can improve outcomes for people and communities.
Policy translation: Using research evidence to inform government policy, public health programs and health system decisions.
