Gift in Wills FAQ

Creating your will for the first time, we recommend that you consult with a solicitor who is experienced in wills and estates. However, you may choose to draft your own will using an online will provider such as Safewill to purchase a will kit from a news agency or post office.

If you already have a will, the most cost-effective way to include a bequest to Cancer Council NSW is by adding a short legal amendment to your will, this is called a codicil. Check with your solicitor if a codicil is appropriate for the updates you wish to make.

If you’d like to learn more or just want a confidential conversation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by calling us on (02) 9334 1479 or emailing giftinwills@nswcc.org.au.

Anyone can leave a gift in their will. Every gift, be it large or small makes a huge impact, ensuring our research, cancer prevention programs, and support services for people affected by cancer can continue well into the future.

Although some people draft their own wills using kits online or bought from a news agency or post office, we strongly suggest that you talk to an expert and a solicitor who can help you draft a will.

There are certain requirements for a will to be valid and using a solicitor will make sure you get it right. Solicitors charge different amounts to draft wills. Don’t be shy – shop around to make sure you get the best deal.

The Daffodil Circle is a group of committed and generous people who have made the generous decision to include gifts to Cancer Council NSW in their will. By including a gift to Cancer Council NSW in your will you are automatically granted membership of the Daffodil Circle.
