Professor Paul Glare
Professor Paul Glare is Chair in Pain Medicine at the University of Sydney and Director of the Pain Management Research Institute.
Paul has spent much of his working life as a palliative care physician and a researcher into the best ways to manage cancer pain. This includes positions as staff specialist in palliative care at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney, and Chief of the Pain and Palliative Care Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.
Paul’s main research interests focus on managing cancer pain during active treatment as well as in cancer survivors, the comparative effectiveness of chronic pain therapies, and factors that affect decision-making in pain management and palliative care.
