Celebrating 10 years of partnering with AMP financial advisers
By Cancer Council NSW
Cancer Council is grateful for the invaluable support provided by our volunteer professional organisations. Recently, we marked 10 years of partnering with the AMP Foundation and AMP financial planning practices to provide pro bono financial advice to cancer patients, carers and their families.
WealthPartners Financial Solutions is one of many of these practices that provide vital support through their involvement in the Cancer Council Pro Bono Program in Sydney’s lower north shore.
Bill Rainger, Financial and Credit Adviser at WealthPartners Financial Solutions, explains that their practice became involved in 2012 as they felt it was “a wonderful way for the individuals within our business to use their skills and expertise to give back to the community.”
Since then, Bill and his team at WealthPartners have developed a longstanding relationship with the Pro Bono Program and during this time have provided free financial planning advice and assistance to over 35 individuals and families affected by cancer.
As individual advisers and as a business, we love being involved in the Pro-Bono Scheme and giving back to the community.
– Bill Rainger
Bill explains that the type of support that is often provided to pro bono clients, goes beyond simply assisting with “insurance claims, securing sources of income, accessing superannuation, dealing with Centrelink, and providing strategic financial advice to ensure that adequate estate planning has taken place. It is also having the opportunity to also provide support to the recipient and their families so they can focus on precious time with their loved one rather than running around sorting out all these critical finance needs.”
Bill shared his feelings on the impact of their involvement in the program:
“As individual advisers and as a business, we love being involved in the Pro-Bono Scheme and giving back to the community. It is extremely rewarding using our skills to help people at a time when they need it most. We can help people make sense of their financial situation and give them peace of mind that their family will be financially secure when they do pass.
“To give them personal support and hear them say that it has made a massive difference to their life, is awesome. That is why we do it and we love being involved.”
We are so grateful for the generous support of Bill, the team at WealthPartners, and all the professional service providers who volunteer their time and expertise to assist people affected by cancer. These services have a profound impact on not only cancer patients and their families but also on the professionals providing this support, and we cannot thank you enough.
