Give in memory

A gift in memory of someone you love is an enduring gift of hope.

“When I was notified by the Cancer Council NSW, that donations had been raised in my partner’s memory, I felt that the money was going towards something worthwhile and it was a way of making a sad event become more positive.”
Ian Colley in memory of his partner Valerie Plumb

How to make a gift in Memory of your loved one?

When you make an In Memory donation, Cancer Council NSW will send a letter of acknowledgement to the bereaved family to let them know that you have made a gift to help defeat cancer.

How to organise a donation collection at a funeral?

The standard pack contains:

  • A guide to help you arrange, collect and  return donations
  • 30 “In Memory” tribute cards

If you or your Funeral Director need a Cancer Council NSW In Memory pack,   please allow 2 – 3 working days for delivery. To arrange an In Memory giving pack to be sent, please call 1300 780 113 or email

Alternatively you can obtain an In Memory pack  from your closest Cancer Council Shop  or  Cancer  Council Office.

To return the collection, simply post or deliver your envelopes to a Cancer Council Office.

How to inform funeral guests to donate in lieu of flowers?

If you would like friends and mourners to make a donation to Cancer Council in lieu of flowers, you may wish to include this request in your loved one’s death notice. Please consider the following wording:

‘Donations in lieu of flowers to Cancer Council NSW, PO Box 572, Kings Cross NSW 1340’.

You can specify that donations be used for research into a particular type of cancer, for example skin cancer or breast cancer etc. Otherwise, donations will be used where they are most needed.
