Professor Mei Krishnasamy is Chair in Cancer Nursing at the University of Melbourne and Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Cancer Experiences Research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne. Until January 2016, she was Executive Director of Cancer Nursing and Allied Health at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where she had strategic responsibility for specialist and advanced practice nurses and allied health clinicians, working with them to develop, implement and evaluate models of patient-centred care. She is chief investigator on several national and international research grants totalling over $4.5m that focus on improving patient experiences of cancer and has a particular interest in the relationship between patient experience, health outcomes and value based health care. She sits on several national expert cancer policy committees, including Cancer Australia and Cancer Council Australia. Mei is currently President of the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia and past President of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia. In 2012 she was awarded the prestigious Robert Tiffany lecture that recognises international leadership in cancer nursing.
