Conquering Skin Cancer

For every body under the sun

Conquering Skin Cancer: the new film hitting the big screen this summer!

Conquering Skin Cancer is an important film that shines a spotlight on how tackling skin cancer takes all of us.  Through compelling interviews with survivors, experts, and celebrities, it advocates for enhanced prevention, early detection, equitable access to treatment and innovative research.

It’s a call to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

Skin cancer costs us much more than we realise.

  • Skin cancer is our most common and our most costly cancer.
  • Melanoma is the third most common cancer in Australia, and the most common cancer diagnosed in young Australians aged 18-39 years.

But… there is hope. The good news is that skin cancer is highly preventable.

  • Preventing UV damage in the first place is the most effective way to reduce our skin cancer risk.

Watch the Conquering Skin Cancer film in select cinemas from 20th November 2024.

Protect yourself and your family

The best way to protect yourself from harmful UV is to create a barrier between you and the sun. This means: Slip on protective clothing, Slop on SPF50+ sunscreen, Slap on a broad-brimmed hat, Seek shade, and Slide on sunglasses.

Take care of yourself and your family by doing three things:

1. Make sun safety part of your routine

2. Know your skin

3. Consult your GP if you notice any changes

Tackling skin cancer takes all of us.

Communities that champion sun safety are essential to creating a sun safe culture.

We all have a responsibility to advocate for better access to and use of sun safety measures where we live, learn, work and play. By prioritising sun safety and investing in prevention, we can protect future generations and reduce the burden of this largely preventable disease.

When it comes to skin cancer the job’s not done until we’re all safe in the sun.
