Most people don’t know there is a link between nutrition and cancer.
In fact, 1 in 3 cancers can be prevented by eating well, being active and maintaining a healthy body weight.
One of the most important things you can do is to eat the right amount of fruit and vegies.
By giving your body five serves of vegies and two serves of fruit every day, you’re giving yourself the best chance of lowering your risk of cancer. However, we know that 90 percent of adults don’t eat enough vegies, while 50 percent don’t eat enough fruit in NSW.
Enter Eat It To Beat It
We want to change the way families think about fruit and veg, and make eating them part of an every day routine. We sign up schools to our program, and hold free workshops and sessions for parents. Our programs are evidence-based, and delivered by trained volunteers who are all determined to beat cancer.
Our program is free and simple for schools to run. Sign up to our program, and we provide:
- Healthy Lunch Box session for your kindergarten orientation program – we give parents simple, healthy advice and a show bag of goodies in a 15-minute session.
- Fruit & Veg Sense workshops for parents – in 60 minutes we show small groups of parents how they can save time and money making healthy meals the whole family will enjoy, and give them clever ways to entice fussy eaters.
- Nutrition Snippets for your newsletter – we send you snippets twice a term with great healthy eating insights and ideas for parents for your newsletter and Facebook.
