On Thursday 17th October a number of staff and volunteers from the Wagga Wagga office attended the 2013 Riverina Volunteer of the Year Award Ceremony. The winner of this award goes on to be nominated for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award.
Two Western volunteers, Judy Heard from Wagga Wagga and Meryl Parker from Leeton were nominated for the Riverina Senior Volunteer of the Year Award. Both attended the ceremony, receiving a nomination certificate each.
Judy Heard was awarded with The Riverina 2013 Senior Volunteer of the Year award and is therefore a nominee for the NSW Senior Volunteer of the Year award. Judy will be attending the award ceremony in Sydney later this year in December where the Minister for Citizenship, Community and Aboriginal Affairs, the Honorable Victor Dominello will be presenting the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards. Judy has been recognised for her continuing contribution to many Cancer Council NSW programs in the Western NSW region.
