No Interest Loan Scheme

The Cancer Council NSW No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) can provide a loan of up to $1,000 to some people who are affected by cancer and are financially disadvantaged. Fees and interest are not charged and repayments can be arranged to suit the borrowers’ needs. A strict eligibility and assessment criteria apply and loans can only be used to pay for eligible items. To be considered for the Cancer Council NILS you must meet the eligibility criteria including ability to demonstrate potential capacity to repay in a money plan completed with a Licensed Financial Counsellor or NILS Coordinator taking into account likely health outcomes. Loans can only be used to pay for specific items, some inclusions are travel to treatment costs, car repairs and car registration and non PBS listed drugs, if total cost of treatment is less than or equal to the loan amount.
