Host a fundraising event

Cancer Council is dependent on community and business support to help fund vital programs in cancer research, support, prevention and advocacy.

Participate in one of our established events

The Cancer Council’s portfolio of events includes a range of iconic and enjoyable fundraisers that companies and other organisations can get involved in:-

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

Every May more than a million Australians get together for a cuppa for cancer. Morning teas are simple to organise and are a fantastic excuse to catch up with work colleagues. Guests simply make a donation on the day. Raffles, auctions and competitions can add to the fun and boost the income from your event. Simply nominate a host or hosts, have them register and we’ll send them a kit to help them on their way.

Hosts register at www.biggestmorningtea.com.au or call 1300 65 65 85.

Pink Ribbon Day

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Australian women with a new case diagnosed every hour. The pink ribbon has become synonymous with the breast cancer cause. Money raised through Pink Ribbon Day funds breast cancer research as well as support services for those facing the day-to-day challenges of this disease.

Pink Ribbon Day is the fourth most-trusted charity brand and your company can be directly associated with this valuable trademark by contributing a percentage of annual sales from a product or service.

Or simply order Pink Ribbon Day merchandise to sell in all your offices and outlets through the month of October.
Visit www.pinkribbonday.com.au or call 1300 65 65 85.

Daffodil Day

Your company can share in the spirit of Daffodil Day held each year in August. The daffodil is the international symbol of hope for people with cancer and the emblem of Cancer Council. Daffodil Day has 94% brand awareness and is the largest merchandise-based fundraising event in the southern hemisphere.

Or simply order merchandise to sell to your customers, clients and staff and/or register to volunteer at a Cancer Council Daffodil Day stall. Visit www.daffodilday.com.au call 1300 65 65 85.

Relay For Life

Relay For Life brings communities together for an event that celebrates local cancer survivors and remembers those lost to cancer. Teams of 10 to 15 members take turns to walk or run around the Relay ground for 18-24 hours, camping for the night on site. Entertainment and healthy food are all part of the mix.

Relays are the perfect event to demonstrate solidarity with your local community in the fight against cancer. Staff members will find the emotional candlelight ceremony and the physical challenge of Relay a powerful team-building experience. If your workplace has lost a staff member to cancer or if someone is fighting the disease, this is an inspiring way for all staff to celebrate them.

Teams actively fundraise before and during the event. Many businesses dollar-match the amounts raised by employees or provide in kind support.

Relay For Life is now the largest fundraising event in Australia and its potential is unlimited. If you would like to become a Relay For Life national corporate partner you will need to commit to entering a minimum number of Relay teams nationally. Contact us on (02) 9334 1766 to discuss.

Encourage your staff to enter a team, or teams in the local Relay For Life. For more information about Relays in your area visit www.relayforlife.org.au

Organise your own activity

Companies can organise their own fundraising activities and direct funds back to  Cancer Council. We can provide you with many useful tips on how to run a successful fundraising event, plus we can support your program with branding and a range of cancer-related information.

  • Tailor an event to fit your corporate culture and help reinforce your values to staff eg about fitness (fun run), creativity (craft sale), competition (trivia night).
  • Raise funds through a company event such as your Christmas party.
