Testimonials

The partnership between our Council and  Cancer Council has really educated us about the range of programs and services available through  Cancer Council. We have been able to use this information to improve our work practices and also to pass the benefits on to our wider Community. This increased awareness means that both the Council and the community are now more cancer smart. The benefits have exceeded our expectations.
Jim Styles – Manager of Community Services | Goulburn Mulwaree Council

The Community Partnership Program is a great initiative to increase awareness of cancer prevention in our community, and to provide resources to local people touched by cancer.
Robyn Tonks, Library Manager | Singleton Shire Council

Since becoming a Community Partner we have increased our Council and community awareness of cancer. Resources are more readily available and we are working towards building a cancer smart community in Port Stephens. For very little time and minimal resources we have developed cancer smart initiatives by working closely with our Cancer Council NSW representative.
Bruce Petersen, Environmental Services | Port Stephens Council

Being an inaugural Cancer Council NSW Community Partner, City of Canada Bay Council efforts are to prevent cancer, to promote awareness and understanding, to assist cancer patients in meeting the challenge of cancer, and to develop a commitment to the defeat of cancer across the City of Canada Bay community. Developing a cancer smart community in City of Canada Bay can become a reality and it is our Ccouncil’s contribution to  Cancer Council NSW’s overall mission to defeat cancer.
Clr Angelo Tsirekas, Mayor  | City Of Canada Bay Council

As a new mother I couldn’t believe adults were allowed to smoke in children’s playgrounds! The policy received a lot of positive media attention, and since the changes, people have congratulated me. They say they’re really pleased Council has made its playgrounds smoke-free and the public have embraced it as common sense.
Kim Curtis, South Lismore

The partnership is excellent value as most of the materials and programs are provided free by  Cancer Council NSW. Our role is to ensure the greatest number of people in our community benefit from what’s on offer.
Clr Laurie Maher, Mayor | Gosford City Council

Armidale Dumaresq Council entered into the  partnership with  Cancer Council NSW over a year ago. In that time we have been able to access an excellent selection of brochures and an “Understanding Cancer” stand, free of charge from Cancer Council. The Partnership has made Council more aware of its responsibilities to its community. Cancer awareness is also included in Council’s strategic planning through its Social Plan and Management Plan.
Poh Woodland, Public Relations Officer | Armidale Dumaresq Council

Our partnership with  Cancer Council NSW has ensured that support and information is available for not only people diagnosed with cancer but more importantly their families.
Jim Maclachlan, Former Mayor | Palerang Council
