Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world and research suggests that without access to proper shade during school hours, when UV levels are often at their peak, our teenagers are put at risk of developing skin cancer in the future.
The Shade for Secondary Schools Grant Program is proudly supported by eftpos, and provides grants to secondary schools across Australia to help them improve sun protection measures. Thanks to the eftpos Giveback campaign, schools can apply for a grant of up to $25,000 to purchase shade for their school. The grants are limited and applications close 13 June 2014.
Cancer Council Australia CEO, Ian Olver says “By offering more Australian high school students shade protection during their teenage years, we can reduce their risk of developing skin cancer now and later in life.”
