Join the Aboriginal Pathways to Diagnosis Study

Valerie Ardler, Aboriginal Cancer Council NSW supporter

Cancer is the second biggest killer of Aboriginal people in Australia, with the death rate from cancer being 60% higher in Aboriginal people than in non-Aboriginal people.

Aboriginal cancer patients are encouraged to join the "Pathways to Diagnosis Study" which will investigate the barriers to Aboriginal people getting health care. Once we understand this, we can improve access to cancer diagnoses and treatment.

We need Aboriginal people to join our study so that we can understand why this cancer death rate is so high.   Your participation could help us to remove any barriers to early diagnosis and treatment and improve the unacceptable cancer survival rate.

The study is open to any Aboriginal person aged 18+ and have been diagnosed with cancer.

All that is required is a short 20 minute phone call to discuss medical care leading up to their cancer diagnosis. Participants will receive a $60 gift voucher for their time.
