Cancer Connect: talk to someone who has experienced cancer
When you have cancer, talking to someone who has been through a similar cancer experience can be helpful, reassuring and encouraging.
Cancer Connect is a free and confidential telephone peer support service that connects a person who has cancer with a specially trained volunteer who has had a similar cancer experience.
A Connect volunteer can listen to you with understanding and share their experiences and ways of coping. They can provide practical information, emotional support and hope. Many people newly diagnosed with cancer find this one-to-one support very beneficial.
How can I talk to someone who has had cancer?
To access the Cancer Connect program you can phone 13 11 20 and then press 3 to speak to a Cancer Connect consultant, or submit your details online here
A Connect consultant will speak with you about your circumstances and link you with one of our trained Connect volunteers who has had the same cancer and similar treatments, and who has a similar lifestyle to you.
A Connect volunteer will then call at a time that is convenient for you.
