Introduction to Volunteering
Want to use your time and talent to help Cancer Council NSW?
Then join our team as a volunteer!
We engage volunteers as partners because of their passion, enthusiasm, knowledge, skills and experience. Volunteers work within our community and assist us by raising public awareness of cancer issues and challenge others to respond by giving time, skills, goods or money. Above all volunteers allow us to address more issues within our communities than might otherwise be possible.
Volunteers change the world! Their time and commitment is valuable to our work.
People from all walks of life volunteer with us and they volunteer for a variety of reasons. Students and young people volunteer to gain work experience and skills to help them gain employment. Other people volunteer after they have had a break from the job market and are looking to build up fresh experience. There are many who are still in the paid workforce who bring a wealth of skill, knowledge and experience with them. Some volunteers are retirees looking to put their experience and time to good use.
Volunteering can be a lot of fun and is a great way to meet new people.
Cancer Council NSW has a range of volunteer roles requiring different amounts of time, from an afternoon a week, one-off events or student internships / placements.
We have a range of short and long-term roles, projects and activities that can match your skills, interests and availability.
Support the work of our offices

Provide specific skills and expertise
Volunteers gain great satisfaction from putting their existing experience or professional skills to good use by donating their talents to our cause. From time to time people come forward willing to offer their professional skills or expertise to our cause. In the past we have benefited from the help of web designers, lawyers, journalists, business analysts, nutritionists, video producers, accountants and auctioneers to name but a few examples.
